One of the main concerns for service leavers considering a new career is how to fund training. The good news is that there are several funding options available to support military personnel and veterans moving into barbering.
For those looking at Level 3 qualifications, the Enhanced Learning Credits Administration Service (ELCAS) is one of the most important funding routes. ELCAS can provide significant financial support towards approved courses, making it easier to access higher-level training. London School of Barbering is an approved ELCAS training provider, which means eligible learners can use this funding directly toward their course.
Serving personnel may also be able to use Standard Learning Credits (SLC). This provides a smaller contribution towards training costs and can be used before leaving the military. While it does not cover the full course cost, it can still reduce the overall financial commitment.
In addition to MOD funding, there are other support routes available. Some veterans may be eligible for resettlement funding such as Individual Resettlement Training Costs (IRTC), as well as support from charities including Help for Heroes or regimental benevolent funds. These are often assessed on a case-by-case basis and can provide additional financial assistance where needed.
Organisations such as the Forces Employment Charity can also play an important role. While they may not directly fund training, they help veterans access funding, explore career options, and connect with training providers.
London School of Barbering supports learners by providing clear course information, funding guidance, and documentation required for applications. While LSB does not apply for funding on behalf of learners, the team ensures that each individual understands what options are available and how to access them.
Funding should not be a barrier to starting a new career. With the right information and support, many service leavers are able to access financial help and move into training with confidence.
