Start a New Career After Military Service
London School of Barbering provides a clear, practical route into a new career for serving personnel, service leavers and veterans. If you’re leaving the Armed Forces and looking for a stable, structured career with real earning potential, barbering offers a strong opportunity — and there are funding routes available to help you train.

WHY BARBERING SUITS
THOSE LEAVING THE FORCES
Barbering is a practical trade that aligns naturally with the skills developed during military service. It demands discipline, consistency, attention to detail and professionalism — qualities service personnel already have in abundance.
The work is hands-on and structured, with clear processes and visible results, making it a natural transition for those used to operational environments. It also offers a relatively fast route into earning: with the right training, you can be working within a short period. And it gives long-term flexibility — work in a barbershop, go self-employed, or build your own business.

OUR MILITARY CREDENTIALS
We’re proud to be a recognised and trusted training provider for the Armed Forces community.
Armed Forces Covenant
London School of Barbering is a proud signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant — our public commitment to supporting service leavers, veterans, reservists and military families, and to treating the Armed Forces community fairly.
Career Transition Partnership (CTP)
We are recognised within the Career Transition Partnership framework — the official Ministry of Defence resettlement service — supporting those transitioning from military life into civilian careers.
ELCAS Approved
London School of Barbering is an ELCAS-approved training provider, meaning eligible service leavers and veterans can use their Enhanced Learning Credits towards training with us.

FUNDING YOUR BARBER TRAINING
There are several funding routes available to support your training, depending on your service status.
ELCAS (Enhanced Learning Credits)
As an ELCAS-approved provider, we enable eligible service leavers and veterans to use Enhanced Learning Credits towards our Level 3 barbering course. This is one of the most widely used routes for military career transition and can significantly reduce the cost of training.
Standard Learning Credits (SLC)
For those still serving, Standard Learning Credits may be available as a contribution towards course costs, usable before discharge.
Additional Support
Some learners may also access resettlement funding, military charities and benevolent funds. We regularly support individuals using these routes and can help guide your application.
A PROVEN PATH FOR EX-FORCES PERSONNEL
Over the years, we’ve trained many ex-military people who have gone on to build successful careers in barbering — in employment, self-employment, and running their own businesses.

STUDENT TESTIMONIAL
“I attended the London School of Barbering after 12 years’ service in the Royal Engineers as an Army Diving Supervisor, making use of my ELCAS funding to complete the Level 3 course.
LSB takes you through lessons in a logical and methodical way, before giving students the opportunity to work on a wide range of taught hairstyles on members of the public. This allowed us to develop our own judgement and technique while receiving hints and guidance rather than instructors micromanaging the process.
The instructors use a combination of practical experience and industry knowledge to develop confidence behind the chair, making the course extremely valuable. I would strongly recommend the London School of Barbering to anyone looking to gain professional barbering skills, particularly those coming from a military background and making use of their ELCAS entitlement.”
